Windows 10: Photos App will not print

Situation on all Windows 10 Machines. Office 365 Desktop applications all print fine (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote 2016) to network printer.

Problem started about a month ago after a Windows 10 Update.


Any .jpg, .bmp, .tif or file associated with Microsoft Photos does not print. OneNote web application is programmed to use the MS Photos application to print and therefore will now not print. MS OWA applications Word and Excel also print fine.


Any graphic or application that is designated to print using MS Photos will not print. Have contacted MS Support, uninstalled and re-installed Photos application from MS Store. Updated all Windows applications to the latest device patches and updates run all "repair tool per MS support and still not fix printing. MS Photos app will print to PDF.


Only solution has been to uninstall Photos and use legacy Windows Photo application. Is there a fix in the works for this and/or is there another solution other that using powershell remove-appxpackage to uninstall Microsoft.Windows.Photos?

Printing a photo on windows 10

You can use Windows Photo App to print the photos in windows 10.

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps.

• Press Windows key and type Photos.
• Select the photo.
• Right click on the photo.
• Select print option.
• Then you will be able to print photos.

Unable to Print .JPG files as photos from Win10.

Following these instruction I get as far as step 3.

• Press Windows key and type Photos in search box and hit enter.
• Browse and open the photo you want to print.
• Click on the more option (three dots) on the upper right corner of the app.
• AT THIS POINT Print does not appear. All that shows is: Refresh, Slideshow, Settings and Feedback
• I am running Windows 10 Home

• Which App/program are you using to view/print photos?

I suggest you to use Photos app to print the photos and check if it works. To do so kindly follow the below given steps:

• Press Windows key and type Photos in search box and hit enter.
• Browse and open the photo you want to print.
• Click on the more option (three dots) on the upper right corner of the app.
• Click on Print option.
• Select the desire printer and size of photo from the Printer option.
• Press Print and check if it works.
