Windows 10: Photos can't read usb drive says it sent notification to device to allow access to photos

I bought an etech usb XD memory card reader for an old Fujifilm camera a Finepix A340 and whenever I put in the usb and look on file explorer its just empty folders, and when I try to import on photos it gives me. Please help I'm not very computer savy and stuff about this is hard to find.
