Windows 10: Photos color looks different in Windows/Photos application to that in Windows 10/Explorer...

Hi,When I view photos on my computer running Windows 10, I see a problem with color.Windows/Photos application does not produce the same color as Windows 10/Explorer Preview pane. The color I get in Explorer Preview pane is the same as applications like Skylum/Luminar and Topaz/Photo AI.Could you please how I can fix this problem in Windows/Photo?Thank youThiru

Windows 10 Photos App Has Color Problems

I appreciate your attempted help but so far I don't think anyone knows what they are talking about when it comes to my problem. There are a lot of suggestions (directions) to change color profiles on my computer. But does anyone REALLY know how to do this in Windows 10 for Photos?

Settings>Display does not permit any changes to a color profile of any kind on my computer. The only color profile that is listed is for my Samsung monitor and you cannot change the profile. There is no option to do anything with any software profiles.
Control Panel>Color Management (accessed via the search for "Color" as CMArbres suggested) also only allows changes to hardware device color profiles. I do not have a problem with my monitor. It displays the color differences from two instantiations of Photos at the same time on the same screen.

If someone knows how to change the color profile for a specific instantiation of Photos please provide a hint of how to do it.
Throwing out generalizations is just wasting your time.

 

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Windows 10 Photos App Has Color Problems

I agree it looks like a color temperature change. What made you think that I have two different versions in different folders? I never said that. I only have one copy of the file that is displayed in my post. I can also replicate the problem with any file in any directory on my computer. It appears that the Photos app is loading a different color profile depending on how it is invoked. Where would the color profiles be located?

I have opened files by using the "Open With" option in Explorer and selected the following programs to open the file:
1. Photos
2. Paint
3. Paint 3D
4. Photo Director
5. Power PDF
6. Snip & Sketch
7. Windows Media Player
8. Corel Paint Shop Pro

I have also imported the files into every Microsoft Office app.

The only time the color of files is distorted is when they are opened with Photos. If I select "Edit With Photos" from the Explorer menu the color of the image is fine. What is the difference between "Open with Photos" and "Edit with Photos?" A different profile?
