Windows 10: Photos Eraser Tool stalls indefinitely when using a large brush size

I've been using the Photos App's eraser tool for a while now and with the update to version 2024.11100.16009.0 I find it stalling indefinitely. When I reduce the size of the brush, I can draw out smaller imperfections easily, but larger wipes cause the app to stall for upwards of 30 minutes with no progress.Is this a known issue with the recent update, or is there something I am not aware of?

You can change the size of the eraser and brush by clicking on the Size
button on the tool bar.





If you find that the brush sizes available are still too small, as a workaround, we suggest that you use the
magnifier tool to zoom in on your work and the brush size will also get magnified and make it easier for you to erase what you want.

WOW! I just learned something new and important for editing my photos.

You provided me with excellent quick steps to re-size the photo.

To play it safe, I made a copy of the original photo and performed your editing steps on the copied photo. I assume that by keeping the original photo . . . the higher MBs photo, I will be able to have large prints made in high resolution.

To e-mail photos for viewing only, the re-sized photo is the best way.

Regarding your first possible suggestion of an E-mail app that provides an option to automatically reduce the JPG size, my e-mail app/program is Microsoft Outlook 2016. If it's okay with you, I'd appreciate your step-by-step procedure to re-size photos.

Windows Photos app gets Generative erase and AI editing features

Before and after using generative erase to remove unwanted objects from the photo. To use Generative erase, go to Edit Image and select the Erase option. Brush over the objects or areas you want to remove. Adjust the brush size to get the right level of precision you need.

Select the areas you want removed and watch unwanted objects disappear. For even finer control or removing multiple objects at once, you can disable Auto Apply to add or remove masks, where each mask represents an area that will be erased.
