Windows 10: Photos/Jpegs extremely slow in onedrive

I feel like something has changed in onedrive or windows 11 recently.JPEGs in folders in onedrive are incredibly slow to work with, getting previews of them in explorer or opening them in photos app, they are blurred and a mess and it takes ages, like 20 seconds a image for it to apparently be downloaded so I can do anything with it.I have told onedrive I want all files downloaded, yet it seems to be ignoring this, or at least its not permanent it only downloads the files that were there when the button to download was clicked and nothing after it. I can only assume this is whats happening bec

We suggest that you follow the methods below and check if it helps to fix the issue:

Method 1: Run Maintenance task.

The Run maintenance task checks for issues that might slow down your computer. Follow the steps below:

• Click on Start.
• On the search bar, type Troubleshooting and click on
  Troubleshooting from the results.
• Click on Run maintenance task under System and Security.
  

Method 2: Turn off Automatically enhance my photos.

Automatic enhancements are not saved in the file and are only applied upon viewing the photo. Turning it off may help speed up the loading of photos. Here are the steps on how to turn off enhancements:

• Open Photos.
• Click on the three dots on the upper right part of the app and click on
  Settings.
• Under Viewing and editing, turn off Automatically enhance my photos by moving the slider.
• If you are not using OneDrive, you can also turn off Show my cloud-only content from OneDrive.

Windows 10 File Explorer is Extremely Slow to Open Photo Files

I recently upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10. My computer now seems to be running slower. However, it is extremely slow to open photo files compared to when I was running Windows 7. When I click to open a JPEG file / photo file in Windows 10, File
Explorer goes into a (not responding) message. It will stay in the not resonding mode for at least 30 seconds to a minute. Then the photo will appear and File Explorer will allow for it to be deleted, moved, copied etc. This makes opening and managing photos
extremely frustrating. I have been searching the internet for a fix. There appear to be a number of suggestions and fixes out there but nothing I have tried has worked. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

 

Can not open jpeg photos with windows 10 (after deleted the pre-installed "Photos" app)

I would like to inform you that if you delete photos app, the pictures that you like to access will open in Windows Photo viewer or the applications which supports the respective format. To open certain images with the apps that you prefer, you will have
to customize it.

I suggest you to try the steps provided below.

• • Right click on the pic that you would like to view.
  • Click on Open With.
  • Click on Choose another app.
  • Choose the app accordingly.
  • Place a check mark on Always use this app to open.jpeg.

I would also like to inform you that even .jpeg pictures can be open with paint application. To check whether the picture is .jpeg format. I suggest you to right click on the picture and click on properties.
