Windows 10: Photos made into Albums disappear from collection

I use MS Photos to upload from my android camera and to sort and edit them. They are stored in OneDrive files in monthly folders. If I create an album of these, they disappear from the chronological files both in the Collection section of Photos and from the File Explorer tree. I find handy when looking back to past dates to locate them both ways. Where are these photos stored once they go into an Album and why must they be erased from the OneDrive and File Explorer tree?

how do i move photos from my collection to an existing album?

Hi Gill,

The requirement to select and move photos from Collections to
Album is currently not available on Photos app.

You will be able to create a new Album of photos but not add to an existing album from Photo app
Collections.

To create a new Album of the selected photos, follow the steps below:

• 
  Open Photos app and click on
  Albums from the left side panel of the window.
  
• 
  Click on New album i.e. + from the top right corner of the app window.
  
• 
  Select the pictures to add to the album and click on
  Done i.e. tick mark icon located at the top right corner of the app window.
  
• 
  Click on Save option located at the top right corner of the window and check if the album is added to
  Photo app.

photo app - How can I do a slideshow in an album? I only see the slideshow option outside of albums.

  Are you referring to the slide show option in the photo app?
  

I suggest you to follow the below steps for the slideshow option and check if it helps.

• 
  Open the “Photo App”
  
• 
  Go to any three options “Collection”, “Albums” and “Folders”.
  
• 
  Click on any “Photo” and press the key “F5” it will launch slide show.

Moving photos from collection to album

Same thing happened to me, if you move photo to an album, then go back and delete it under collections, they both disappear! Why even have the albums? I guess its so you can't clear up space, so you will have to buy space for them when you reach the free
limit.
