Windows 10: Photos missing from computer and photos app

I am having an issue where a folder/folders filled with pictures have been removed from my computer, but I still get a preview/slideshow of them when I view the photos app from the windows start button.I'm not sure why I'm getting a preview of the photos on the app thumbnail, but when I open the app nothing there.I know I did not delete the files myself, and I'm the only one who uses my computer.Any possible solution where I can get my files back?

Thanks for replying spunk. That's the 'alphabetical' list I was referring to, none of these apps are in that 'All apps' list. Any more suggestions?

I've seen several threads about installing a missing photo app. I've tried the suggestions listed on these threads to get the photo app back and nothing works. Any help to resolve this would be greatly appreciated.
