Windows 10: Photos taking ages to download

While on the internet, I try to save an image by right-clicking on it. When the menu appears, I left-click "save image as". Then it takes about 6 seconds for the image to download. While it's downloading my browser freezes and stops freezing when the image has downloaded. It doesn't matter what browser I use or how large the image is I'm downloading.The browsers I'm using, Firefox, Chrome, Internent Explorer, and Opera, don't seem to be at fault. And there is enough space on my hard drives. Does anyone know why this has just started happening?

Well that's why I asked. Mine is on SSD and takes 11 seconds. Your list of games will not appear if it has not checkd for updated suggested settings for awhile until it checks.

When it says it is refreshing the game list, it is checking, because NVIDIA periodically updates suggested settings. Plus it will look for those for new games you have installed.

So, the less it is run, the slower it will be.

 

Download folder takes an age to load


After several day, the Download folder contents now seem to display just the same as any other folder, so don't know what was going on - can't believe that Windows 'learns' the contents so that if there's no change it just displays the last search.

UPDATE: Switched PC off & back on after a couple hours. Download folder contents taking ages to show. The green progress bar reaches the end with still no folder contents shown, then repeats process for second time before eventually displaying folder contents.

Will try suggestions above but surely this is basic stuff, not rocket science!

I seem to have found a solution (at least on my PC), I went to the View Tab in File Explorer....clicked on Options and then the View Tab on Folder Options Window. Scroll down the list until you see the Checkbox for "Launch folder windows in a separate process" and check that and click Apply. Hope it works for you.....
