Windows 10: Photoshop 6 and Windows 10

I recently had a problem when opening Photoshop. As it was loading it stopped and I got the following message:


"Unable to continue because of a hardware or system error. Sorry, but this error is unrecoverable"


I uninstalled the program and reloaded it and got the message:


"You currently have Adobe Photoshop's primary Scratch and Windows primary paging on the same volume which can result in reduced performance. It is recommended that that you set Adobe Photoshop primary Scratch volume to be on a different volume, preferably on a different drive."


Having clicked OK the program would work fine until I closed it and tried to reboot again when it would stop loading and I get the first error message. Reinstalling the program I went to Edit > Plug ins and Scratch Discs. First Scratch Disc indicated Start-up with the remainder indicating none. I changed the first to C but this did not solve the problem.


Having looked at various web sites there can be numerous causes for problems. The fact that the program works fine when initially loaded from a disc tends to indicate that it could be a windows update maybe?

Unable to install Photoshop 6 in W10

Same problem but no luck even when using the windows file explorer...i.e. this installation works when using win2K pro (was last time PS6 was installed!) - but no luck using any of the above tricks with windows 10. [am using a 64 bit lenovo yoga laptop, plenty of empty space/RAM; external cd/dvd drive is new and reads the disk and other files]

Any more suggestions would truly be appreciated/thanks in advance for any info/suggestions

 

Reloading Photoshop 6 in Win 10

I am a sporadic user of bits of Photoshop and find the old Photoshop 6 more than enough for my needs. I loaded it on my PC with Win 8.1 and then upgraded to Win 10 and the application worked just fine. But recently copying something from the internet I
got an annoying logo that interfered with my use of Photoshop So I uninstalled Photoshop 6 and tried to reinstall. It will not install under Win10 at all. The install interface comes up and when I ask to install Photoshop 6, Win10 asks if I will allow the
software to install and does nothing except to repeat that message. It seems to be on some sort of loop. Trying several times and gong directly to the run application on the original program disk and trying various other permutations I still wind up with
no response once agreeing to allow installation. Any suggested workarounds?

Windows 10, Cannot 0pen saved Photoshop Elements 12 files.

I suggest you to set the default program to open the saved Photoshop files by following the steps below.

• Right click on the file and select Open With.
• Select the default program from the list.
• If Photoshop is not available, then click on browse and select the correct default program from the Program files.
• Click on OK.
