Windows 10: Photoshop: Files vanishing immediately after being saved in specific folder

November 15, 2015 forum member GrahamWhite1973 posted the following problem. I experience exactly the same saving psd-files in CS6. The thread was closed without a functioning solution. Nine years later, anyone who has the solution ?I make a .psd file in Photoshop the standard photoshop extension, I save it to a folder. Windows Explorer doesn't list the file. I can still open the file in Photoshop, and when the directory is viewed from Photoshop, the new file is there. Just not in Windows Explorer.This is not a standard "hidden files" issue; I have hidden files checked as v

I make a .psd file in Photoshop (the standard photoshop extension), I save it to a folder. Windows Explorer doesn't list the file. I can still open the file in Photoshop, and when the directory is viewed from Photoshop, the new file is there. Just not
in Windows Explorer.

This is not a standard "hidden files" issue; I have hidden files checked as visible, and I can see other .psd files in the same folder. I am not saving the file any differently than the .psd files that are visible. And after consulting this board, I tried
"chkdsk C: /f /v /x" (the files are on C) to no success.

I had a near identical problem to this in Windows 7, and found explorer was filing these "missing" files in a different tab of the window (that was labelled something about compatability). W10 doesn't seem to have this tab.

Help me and I will forever praise your name. I will hold an annual ceremony on this day and recall the time in 2015 when <YourNameHere> helped me fix this insane issue.

You may try this suggestion and check.

• Start Windows Explorer, you can do this by opening up any folder.
• Click Organize.
• Click Folder and search options.
• Click the View tab.
• Scroll down until you notice Hide extensions for known file types, un-check this line by clicking the check box.
  
  Note To hide file name extensions, check this line.
• Click OK

Windows 10, Cannot 0pen saved Photoshop Elements 12 files.

I suggest you to set the default program to open the saved Photoshop files by following the steps below.

• Right click on the file and select Open With.
• Select the default program from the list.
• If Photoshop is not available, then click on browse and select the correct default program from the Program files.
• Click on OK.
