Windows 10: "Pictures" folder on external HDD displays content with huge 20-30 sec delay.

Hi, fellows.Short:Subj. How to make it open quick? Long:"Pictures" folder on external HDD displays content with huge delay. Was moved from default location with embedded button Properties -> Location -> Move.... Each time I open the folder it takes 20-30 seconds to display the latest files. Address bar colorfills about 20-30 seconds which reveals it's doing something. Contains about 350 pics and 4 folders with pic also, about 2500 picsHow to make it open quick as one would expect? I would assume that content is just not being cached. Should it?

Quick Access not searching Pictures folder

Summary, that last suggestion didn't work.

• I moved the pictures to another folder temporarily.

• Then I tried to remove the Pictures folder with option one at Add or Remove Folders from This PC in Windows 10 | Windows 10 Tutorials. Even after rebooting, the Pictures folder remained.
• So I tried using option two. Same thing: reboot >> Pictures folder still there.

• Since there were no troubleshooting steps for this scenario, just for the heck of it, I ran through the restore steps. Copied some pictures into the Pictures folder, ran a Quick Access search and initial problem remains: Searching all of QA doesn't find any files in Pictures folder, running search on just the Pictures folder does. I want to run a global search and find matching files in any/all of the Documents, Music, Videos, and Pictures folders.

That article dates from 2015 and I'm guessing is out of date. I hope it didn't create potential future problems in my registry.

Bottom line: I'm still looking for a fix.

Pin Documents (Library) to Quick access, instead of User folder Documents. Library has blue line under it. You can then unpin User folder from Quick access . You can see both of them pinned in my picture

 

How to reduce the startup delay (default is 30 secs)


I have been told that Windows sets an overall delay of 30 secs (default) before the startup routine even begins. (I am not talking here of the way to disable or delay the startup of individual startup items.) This overall delay is mainly designed (I am told) to allow users time to press the F key which brings up the boot order window and therefore allowing the user to change the boot order. Forgetting the boot order point, by setting this from 30 secs. to a lower value, the machine starts the startup process almost immediately (depending on the new setting) instead of waiting for 30 secs., therefore speeding up the startup.

>> If it involves the name of a routine etc., please tell me where to enter that name.
>> If it involves one of the sub-panels of Control Panel, please give me the name of that sub-panel (my machine is suffering from the post-Anniversary bug which prevents reaching such a sub-panel via the Search Bar).
>> What would be the lowest setting (in secs.)
