Windows 10: pictures will only show as icons and not thumbnails, is there a fix for this ?

Since I installed windows 11 my pictures will not show as thumbnails only as icons. How do I change this ?

Picture ICONS instead of thumbnail pics

Suddenly all of my picture thumbnails are ICONS, instead of thumbnail pics. I have gone through the steps of Unchecking a box that says "always show ICONS instead of thumbnails" and that did NOT help.

I don't like Microsoft Edge or the Cloud, I think those are the culprits that keep doing this to my thumbnails.

Thank you for your interest in Windows 10.

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it fixes the issue:

• 
  Type System in the Search window and right click on
  System and click Properties.
  
• 
  Click on Advanced System Settings on the left side.
  
• 
  Click on the Advanced tab and then click on
  Settings under Performance.
  
• 
  Make sure Show thumbnails instead of icons is checked and click on
  Apply and Ok.
  
• 
  Now navigate to Pictures folder and right click on the window and choose
  View – Large Icons.
  
• 
  Now Type Edit Group Policy in Search window and click
  User Configuration.
  
• 
  Click Administrative Templates and click All Settings.
  
• 
  Double click on Turn off the display of thumbnails and only display icons to edit it.
  
• 
  Select Not Configured or
  Disabled.
  
• 
  Click Apply and then OK.
  
• 
  Check if issue persists.

If you do the suggestion by Cyberdesigner and they still show as icons, check your performance settings and make sure "show thumbnails instead of icons" is checked.


Right click Start, select System -> Advanced system settings -> Advanced tab -> Performance - Settings
