Windows 10: PIN and fingerprint options have disappeared.

I turned on my PC sometime ago only to discover that PIN and fingerprint where missing from my signin options. this is a serious problem as I cannot remember my password to save my life.What caused this and how can it be reversed? My guess is probably signing into a work account. How can access my data at least.

Fingerprint disappearing automatically after some time?

Hey, I'm a system admin and I tried the maximum that I can for resolving this issue.

I set up my fingerprint in my Dell Vostro 7620 Office laptop and it will disappear automatically after some time. Windows PIN also disappears along with the fingerprint.

The list of methods that I tried to resolve the issue is mentioned below.

1. Reinstalled biometric driver

2. Stopped and restarted the service from services.msc

3. Checked each step in event viewer.

4. deleted the NGC file with the reference of the below link.

5. Updated the BIOS and TPM.

What's surprising me is some of the employee's laptop with the same configuration works perfectly with the fingerprint and some of them don't.

Please help me to resolve this.

I'm a step further:

The installed driver for the fingerprint reader has to be deleted from device manager. Windows 10 then install a "Synaptics" driver for the fingerprint reader.

In a second step, a PIN has to be specified in the account options. After that, the fingerprint option misteriously appears and it's possible to record the fingerprint.

BUT: I absolutely can't understand why a PIN is required for fingerprint logon. Now, I can logon to my domain joined Windows 10 client with just a 4 digit PIN, despite we have complex password requirements configured in the domain policies.

I tried to setup two factor authentication with PIN and fingerprint, but haven't found a way. There is absolutely no description how to implement 2 factor authentication in Windows 10. Seems to be Vaporware..
