Pin and unpin to the start menu disappear

I have upgraded to W11, we have a custom configuration policy for a custom start menu on W10 before I upgraded to W11. Pin/unpin has disappear now that I am on W11. Anyone else seeing the same issue?

Can't unpin/pin items in start menu

I tried and I still didn't have an option to pin/unpin anything.
    Thanks for the suggestion.

I'll just wait for an update and see if it fixes it, if not I'll rollback to an earlier version of the update.

'Pin to Start' and 'Unpin from Start" items in Windows 10

Thanks Cliff. The first suggestion didn't work because the shortcut icon is not listed. The second easier suggestion didn't work because right-clicking does not include "Open File Location" as an option, only "Unpin from Start" and "Resize". Screenshots are included. "xmltobgl" is the culprit icon.

Problem with Pin to start and unpin from start, not working

I recently updated my system to windows-10 developer update, and after 2 or 3 days I observed i am having problem with pinning and unpinning programms to start menu.

    Problem details, now

    1) i can pin any (new or old installed) program to start menu (pin to start option visible), and the pinned icon appears somewhere in random position in start menu (i.e. not at bottom of start menu like for 1st time pinning). But even after pinning that
program, when i right click on its icon it still shows "pin to start" option instead of "unpin from start" option, (and other options like "run live off"; "open file location" etc. are present normally and working correctly). But, once i 'restart the system
/ restart the windows explorer' the programs [which i have pinned to start before restarting] disappears and start menu back to same old state (i.e. appears same like before pinning them) but with 1 or 2 old icons (i.e. those already pinned before update)
    changes positions.

    2) Like this i can pin the same program multiple times in start menu and it appears in multiple numbers in side by side (and all those same pinned icon only have "pin to start" option and no "unpin from start" option). and all those newly pinned icons disappears
again, once i 'restart the system / restart the windows explorer'

    3) For programs i installed before the update [or before i observed this issue], still has "unpin from start" option present, and i can unpin them successfully, and they stay unpinned even if 'restart the system / restart the windows explorer', but i can't
pin them back to start menu [i.e. now they also have same problem like mentioned in step-1]

I observed this problem after 2 or 3 days of my developers update (in those 2 or 3 days i installed some apps normally and they pinned to start menu normally and don't have issue with start menu).

Note-1: Programs pinning done using either from shortcut icon or installed file location 'setup.exe icon', both has the same problem as above.

note-2: yesterday i done reinstalling windows by, repairing upgrade using the windows 10 ISO file, but still has same issue persists.

note-3: done sfc/ scannow, it said "no integrity violations"

note-4: i uninstalled my Anti-virus fully and rebooting the system done, but still problem present.

note-5: programes i installed after the update were simple normal programs like adobe pdf reader, daemons tools lite etc. which i many times installed even before update without any problem.

note-6: my programs in "start menu folder" in c-drive are way lower than allowed 512 icon permits

sometimes (after reboot) i find some non-readable e.g.: c:\microsoft\startmenu\jepg-EYJOPD38 etc. (it is only for e.g. not in exact) in the free tile slots in start menu, when i right click on them they show "unpin from start" option, when i unpin them they
disappear but appear again after some reboot.

please help me resolve the issue, any suggestions are welcome.

    Thank you.
