Windows 10: Pin being forced to make it 6 characters

I added a school/work account so I could save something to my OneDrive there and just to have it for the ease of access. This then prompted me the next time I tried to sign in to change my pin. It would not let me keep the same pin as it had to be 6 characters long vs my normal shorter one. Since it made me do this I signed out of it and went to change my pin again and now I can’t change it back and it has to be 6 characters. Anyone know why this is happening.

I would love to have a CHARACTER MAP pinned to my windowa 10 taskbar. If anybody knows a way to do this please list every step so that any neophyte can understand the process.

Your screenshot tells clearly what is the problem.

You are using W10 Education edition, most probably signed in to Windows using your organizational Office 365 / Azure AD account (school / university etc.). In your screenshot, you are told this in Portuguese:

This is a requirement for Azure AD accounts, the PIN must be at least 6 characters long. There's nothing you can do to change that requirement. Azure AD accounts simply require a 6 or more character PIN.

No group policy or other setting will change that. To use less than 6 character PIN or no PIN at all, you must sign in with a personal account, not with an organizational Azure AD account.

Your Azure AD admin can change the minimum length to greater than 6 characters, but not to less than 6 characters.

I suggest you to go through the below steps and check if it helps.

Follow these steps to set up a PIN on your Windows User Account:

• Press the Windows +S key combination to display the Search box.
• Type the word pin into the Search box, then click Set up PIN sign-in.
• Find the “PIN” section and click the Add button.
• Type in the password for your User Account, then click the Ok button.
• Select and enter a 6 digit numeric pin, then enter it again for confirmation.
• Exit the PIN setup utility.

From now on you’ll be able to log in to your Windows account by entering your 6 digit PIN instead of your password.

You can change your PIN at any time by following the steps below:

• Press the Windows +S key combination to display the Search box.
• Type the word pin into the Search box, then click Set up PIN sign-in.
• Find the “PIN” section and click the Change button.
• Enter your Windows password, then click the Ok button.
• Select and enter a new 6 digit numeric pin, then enter it again for confirmation.
• Click the Finish button.
• Exit the PIN setup utility.
