Windows 10: PIN no longer available following update

I updated Windows 10 today. At the same time my bios updated on my HP laptop. I have been unable to login since as the PIN option is no longer available. I don't think I set up a password when I bought the laptop, only a PIN. I've tried to get in using safe mode but it still wants a password. Same result when I try and go back to the previous installation. I've spent hours this afternoon trying out all sorts of options but I am completely stumped!Any help would be appreciated.

Do you see a link for Sign In Options at the bottom of the Sign-in Screen. Choose that and select the key or password choice, use password to sign in.

Can't use my PIN to login any longer

To further assist you in signing in to your Windows computer, you can follow the steps provided below:

• 
  From your
  lockscreen, check if the "Sign-in option" is available.
  
• 
  Then click the option to use PIN.
  
• 
  Enter PIN.
  
  

If that didn't work, we highly suggest that you create a new account/PIN that you can use to log in to your computer.

Pin Login not available and can't change or remove my pin

Hi Saschavan,

To help you disable your PIN login, kindly follow the steps below:

• Go to this location: Settings/Accounts/Sign-in options
• Check the PIN options and click the I forget my PIN available to click?
  
• Enter your password, it will prompt you to enter a new PIN.
• Click Cancel and your PIN should be disable upon reboot.
