Windows 10: pin no longer works and password is not working

Hi I did an AMD driver uninstall with their OEM software for GPU.PC didn't reboot, so hard rebooted it, logged into windows, but told pin is no longer working.I am given the option to rechoose a pin but then it gets 2FA successfully and tries to change the pin but fails.I forgot the password.Therefore, I logged into another profile and reset the password on that account.I reset the password as I had forgotten it , but now that doesn't work to log in either.Any help would be greatly appreciated!

We understand your concern as you are having issues in using and setting up PIN on your PC. In order to get clarity and to assist you accordingly, please reply with the answers to the questions below:

• What is the Windows 10 Version and Build installed? (Type winver
  in Windows search/Run command)
• Are you aware of any recent changes on the PC prior to this issue?
• Are you able to login to the PC prior to this issue, or this is the first time?
• Are you able to login to the same user account using the password?

If you are bale to login to the PC with the help of the password, then refer this article to troubleshoot:

Meanwhile, we would also suggest you to perform these steps and check, if you are able to login to the account using password or boot the PC in
safe modefrom login screen.

Note:
Important this section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection,
back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.

Steps to delete the NGC folder

1. Open the Run dialog box by pressing the Windows key and the R key together.
2. Type Regedit and hit the Enter key.
3. When the Registry Editor opens, navigate to the following location:
   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Authentication\LogonUI\TestHooks
4. In the right pane, double click on the DWORD entry named value set it to
   0.
5. Close registry settings and open File Explorer.
6. Navigate to this location: C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\Microsoft\NGC and delete all the contents in the NGC folder
7. Restart the PC and then add PIN in Windows Settings
   (Accounts > Sign in option > Windows Hello PIN).

Windows 10 password pin stopped working

Hi,

To better assist you, please answer the following questions:

• Are you able to start up your device up to the desktop screen?
• After doing the password reset, what error message are you getting?
• Are you able to log in to your account using a password instead of a pin?

In the meantime, if you are able to start up your device up to the desktop screen you may follow the steps to Remove Pin:

Go to Settings.

Under Accounts, click on Sign in options and select
Remove PIN.

After removing your PIN (this will require your password to do this), then you may click
Add PIN. Follow the steps to add a PIN.

NOTE: You may use the same PIN you have been using.

After doing so, log out of your account and sign back in using your PIN.

Password not known and pin no longer works

I have a second pc and your process worked on that one, that I was not having a problem with. It was the PC that I received your response. However, my problem PC occurred because I had always use my pin to sign in. However, I wanted to connect several PC's
and my Imac so I could communicate to all from one. Since I did not have the password for that PC, I tried to use the command administrator to change it, which I learned from a you tube demo. The process cause the oin to no longer work, but I nnever was advised
of wht the password became. When I try to sign in using my pin it says my password has changed on (I think another device) and I must sign in with the password before I can use the pin.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
