Windows 10: PIN no longer works following Bios update

I recently updated to Windows 11. After it updated to that, it then went straight to updating the Bios. After the updates were completed it says "Your PIN is no longer available due to a change to the security settings on this device. Click to set up you PIN again." When I go to "Set Up Your Pin" it only recognizes my very old email address which I no longer use or have the password for. When I purchased this laptop I went ahead and created a new Microsoft Account, but it wants to set the PIN up using the old email account. If I choose "Sign-in options" it requests my password, when I enter it

Pin not working after BIOS Update

Hi Max,

It seems that your operating system was no longer aligned with your BIOS after installing a BIOS update for your HD3P main board.

For us to diagnose and address the problem, we suggest starting your computer in safe mode and check if the PIN is working while in that state. If it's working, then a 3rd party application may have caused the issue. To start your PC in safe mode, please

If the PIN is not working in safe mode, then a reset is suggested to correct the problem. The operating system should always go with the BIOS. If the BIOS is freshly updated, then the OS has to be fresh as well. Check out

Pin not working after BIOS Update

Hello,

the PIN option is no longer working after updating the BIOS of my Gigabyte B150 HD3P Mainboard. I'm running Windows 10 Pro 64bit. (using current branch for business)

More Infos:

• restaring the machine didn't help (unsurprisingly)
• Picturecode login still works
• I've already set the grouppolicy to enable pin login
• In the loginoptions menu is shows me the possibility to add a pin
  
  Problem: When I click the button it asks for my old pin. I enter the old pin, the window just disappears.
  
  Problem2: Forgot Pin tells my to remove the pin with the button "remove pin" - this button is not visible

This basically deprives me of all options I know - apart from resetting everything - I certainly am not planing on doing that again...

 

Windows 10 Problem with PIN login following BIOS update

I recently updated my BIOS on my ASUS Prime 270-P motherboard.

Following the successful BIOS update I could not longer use a PIN to sign in (Cryptic error code - 0x80070032) but thankfully the password login worked.

Navigating to the account settings, sign in options I attempted to "add PIN", and hit a windows security dialog "Sorry there was a problem signing you in".

I ran the account troubleshooter and it detected a problem connecting to the sync service

I am running Windows 10 version 1799 OS Build 16299.248

Assistance would be appreciated
