A little background on what has happened and how I'm stuck in a PIN loop...1. Attempted to upgrade from Windows 10 PRO version 20H2 to 21H2, I have Dell XPS 15 75902. Received Windows Update Error 0x80080005 3. During installation continued to receive a mighost.exe Error: wdsinitiatlize failed to initialize4. Ran sfc /scannow5. After scan following message6. Contacted Microsoft for assistance as update did not install as continued BitLocker blue screen requiring enter of the key7. Spoke with Microsoft tech - I explained I was trying to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro 21H2 and was running into issues

Pin Login not available and can't change or remove my pin

Hi Saschavan,

To help you disable your PIN login, kindly follow the steps below:

• Go to this location: Settings/Accounts/Sign-in options
• Check the PIN options and click the I forget my PIN available to click?
  
• Enter your password, it will prompt you to enter a new PIN.
• Click Cancel and your PIN should be disable upon reboot.

Since you have a Microsoft account, you should see this instead
Microsoft account sign-in options




If this doesn't work, there are other procedures available to consider.
--- Some of them include registry changes.
--- Are you familiar with working in the registry?

BTW, have you saved your data along with a system image backup ready?

 

PIN

To resolve this issue with your PIN, follow these step:

• Restart your computer first, then after that, open File Explorer and browse to this location:

C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\Microsoft\NGC

• Delete everything within that folder.
• Go to Settings-> Accounts->Sign-in Options.
  
• Click Add a PIN again and set your PIN.
  
• PIN sign in should work going forward.
