Ping spiking on Wi-Fi connection network

I am writing to seek assistance with a persistent issue I have been experiencing regarding my internet connectivity. Despite being connected to a Wi-Fi network in close proximity to the router, I am encountering significant latency problems that are adversely affecting my online activities. To provide you with more details, I have noticed that the ping latency fluctuates from an acceptable 25 milliseconds to an alarming range of approximately 160-190 millisecondsping google.com. These latency spikes have a detrimental impact on my online gaming experience, causing frequent freezes and disrupt

Windows 10 stop automatically connecting to random new wi-fi networks

    Hi,

I have searched a lot, but all the tutorials I found only explained how to not connect automatically to a known wi-fi network or how to disable wi-fi sense... but this is not what I am looking for...

    PROBLEM:

    • When my laptop (Windows 10 Pro X64) is not connected to a network and the wireless adapter is on, it will automatically connect to any random new unsecured wi-fi network... The only way I have now to avoid this is to disable my wi-fi adapter.

UNUSEFUL TUTORIALS I FOUND ON THE INTERNET:

    • How to manually uncheck the option for a particular wi-fi network not to connect automatically in Network Properties. This is not what I am looking for. This would suggest that everytime I power my computer. I would have to manually go through all the available wi-fi networks and unclick them all...
    • How to disable Wi-Fi Sense. This is not useful, because I don't even have a Wi-Fi sense option in my computer where the tutorials say it should be.

    EXPECTED BEHAVIOR:

    • I am looking for an option to tell my computer to stop connecting randomly to unknown wi-fi networks like an hyperactive, reckless idiot.

    PERSONAL COMMENT:

    • Honestly, why would any respectable company think that it could be somewhat wise or secure to do this... Anyone's computer could just randomly connect to any hacker's wi-fi network without the user even knowing it...

Any solutions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

  3. Ping spikes during the day

    Hello ParsaAsghari.

I'm Daniel, a Microsoft user like you. It is a pleasure to help you today. I know how frustrating it can be for you, but I will do my best to help you Ping spiking on Wi-Fi connection network :)

I understand you are experiencing ping spikes in games during the day.

I have a question, do you use internet over Wifi?

Here I was having the same problem and it seems that windows gave a random ping spike when using WIFI because it was looking for networks at a regular interval.

    I suggest you try this:

Open CMD as administrator and use the command:

netsh wlan set autoconfig enabled=no interface="Wi-fi"

That way it will stop seeing new networks and avoid the ping spike.

And if you want to undo just use this command:

netsh wlan set autoconfig enabled=yes interface="Wi-fi"

    ____

I hope I have helped you, have a great day.

    Take care!

  4. Ping spiking on Wi-Fi connection network

    High ping/latency spikes

    Hi,

the network cable test needed to be done simply to determine if the ping spikes were due to the WiFi connection or the PC.

    1) Are your router and your children's PCs in the same room or are they in different rooms?

    2) Are ping spikes on both of your kids' PCs?

    3) What is the exact model of both WiFi adapters of the 2 PCs?

4)Which WiFi band do the 2 PCs use, 2.4 or 5 GHz? Does the problem occur on both networks?

    5) Can you confirm that the ping spikes are also present when you temporarily move the 2 PCs close to the router and connected via WiFi?
