Windows 10: pink dot lines at the buttom of my screen

im posting this here because im convinced that its a software issue.

Every now and then, my laptop would freeze for a brief moment, and then it unfreezes and flickering pink dot-lines at the bottom start to appear. it looks like the lines flicker and slowly go up, taking more of the screen. And then the lines stop after going up to cover about 2 inches of the bottom of the screen. Screen continues working fine everywhere else. even at the areas where the lines are, you can see what's under there still. It just looks like the lines are flickering above it. even while the flicker is going on, the computer continues working fine. everything works fine as if the lines doesn't even exist.

Then few minutes later, the lines disappear and the screen looks completely normal.

it happens every now and then and it doesn't seem to have a specific pattern of occurrence.

the laptop is a little old and its a Dell laptop.



any ideas to what this is?

win 10 update leaves vertical pink line on screen

today i applied latest win 10 update and now i have a vertical pink line on screen, it remains on every screen. i have tried these fixes

Step 1: I suggest you to run SFC scan,
System File Checkeris a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files.

Follow the below steps:

• Right click on the Start button, click on
  Command Prompt (Admin).
• Type “sfc /scannow” without the quotes and hit
  Enter.
• After the scan, restart the computer and check for the issue.

Step 2: Also, I suggest you to update the display drivers and check.

Steps to Update the Display Adapter driver.

• Press Windows key + Xkey when you are at desktop.
• Select Device Manager.
• Expand Display Adapter.
• Right on the Display Adapter and click on
  Update driver software

BUT i still have the line on screen.

 

horizontal pink and blue lines

I have horizontal pink and blue lines starting at the top of my touch screen at start up. The only way to "fix" the problem is to use the touchscreen and restart the computer. I can see a small portion of the desktop at the top of the screen and it appears
normal. Any suggestions?
