    Play Audio Over USB to External Hi-Fi?


    I have a laptop Lenovo P1 Gen2 running Window 10 Pro vs. 1909. It has various types of available USB and Thunderbolt connectors. I also have a CD player on my hi-fi system Marantz CD6006 with a USB input on the front panel -- says it "plays USB audio sources MP3/WMA/AAC/WAV and iPod." I don't appear to have a driver on the computer to send audio over USB, however, since theonly option available in Settings/Sound/Output is "Speakers Synaptics Audio."


    Google found a few Microsoft articles about problems related to digital audio in Win10 1909, but none seems to give clear instructions how to properly configure it, and they may not even be relevant. How can I send audio from an online source to my external device over USB without screwing up something else like my onboard speakers? -- JCW2

    I suggest you to run the audio trouble shooter and check if it helps.

    Method 1: Run audio troubleshooter.

    You might be able to solve some problems by running a troubleshooter that will automatically fix some common issues with audio.

    Follow the steps to run the troubleshooter:

    • Press Windows key on your keyboard
    • Type Troubleshooting and click
      Troubleshooting..
    • Click on view all (on the left)
    • Select Playing Audio
      troubleshooter
    • Follow the prompted steps to troubleshoot this issue.

    Hi,

    I appreciate if you could answer to a few questions to narrow down to the issue.

    • Which is the application that you are using to play the files?
    • Did you try the same on a different player?
    • Did you perform any troubleshooting steps?
    As an initial troubleshooting step, I suggest you to check if the volume is set low or in mute state in Volume Mixer.

    • Right click on sound icon.
    • Open Volume Mixer check for the application that you are playing the files with and increase the volume and check.
    If the issue still persists, I would suggest you to run “Playing audio” troubleshooter to diagnose and fix the issue.

    Follow these Steps to run Playing Audio Troubleshooter in Windows 10.

    1. Type troubleshooting in the search bar.

    2. Select Troubleshooting.

    3. Select View all on the top left corner.

    4. Click on Playing audio.
