Windows 10: Please allow Google Chrome for browser, Not Responding!

Ever since the latest Windows update, I have to wait around 15 seconds for a page to load. It's as if you want people to buy virus protection or something. Please release my computer! I HATE "NOT RESPONDING"!!!!!!!!!

Windows 10 not allowing to change default browser to google chrome

I recently re-installed windows 10. Have tried every way to change default browser from Edge to Chrome, to no avail. Even changed the default by file type, HTML, Htm, to open with google chrome. Under Apps & Features, google is listed as my browser, but in Default apps-Web browser-choose default, I can click on google chrome till the cows come home and no sale. Very frustrated, have never like Edge. What is my next move? Even Apps by protocol has google chrome listed but it still won't respond.

 

Google Chrome does not respond

This is a problem with Chrome Version 65.0.3325.162 (Official Build) (64-bit) running under Windows 10 64 bit.

When I start Chrome, nothing happens. From time to time, a "page unresponsive" dialogue box appears.

Chrome's task manager shows a CPU load of around 27%, but nothing happens for several minutes.

The following has been done with no impact: clearing browsing data, running the Chrome cleanup tool and clearing all browser extensions. Again, all this has been done and nothing has helped.

Hardware acceleration also has been turned off.

Updating Chrome has not helped.

The troubleshooting steps are the ones typically suggested by Google support. None had any impact.

A posting in Google's forum led to in uninstall suggestion that did not work.

Trying 32-bit Chrome did not work.

Chrome Not Responding

Every time I try to download or save any type of file, I get "Google Chrome Not Responding" and have to close the program. It has been happening for a week. I have updated google chrome and windows. I have followed every step that is listed on the following site and others: How to Fix Google Chrome Not Responding or Opening Issues . I have even installed Restoro to attempt to fix the issue. It is a major problem and nothing has seemed to fix it in the slightest. Please help!
