  2. I found instructions on "mklink" but I constantly get syntax errors

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused.

When you incorrectly order words and symbols and try to compile or execute a program, the compiler, which takes your code and translates it into commands for the computer's processor, will return a syntax error. This syntax order
usually contains a line number, which will take you directly to the incorrect code, as well as an error message, which can be very general.

    Mklink creates a symbolic link.

I would suggest you to type the Mklink in a proper syntax.

Please check the same for below

    mklink [[/d] | [/h] | [/j]] <Link> <Target>

    for example

    mklink /d \MyDocs \Users\User1\Documents

These are the parameters and description which you are trying to do,

    1.
/h creates a hard link instead of a symbolic link.

    2.
    /j Creates a Directory Junction.

Hope this helps. If the issue remains unresolved, please get back to us and we would be happy to help.

  3. I found instructions on "mklink" but I constantly get syntax errors

    Original Title: mklink

I'm trying to set up my new tablet so that when I load music or picture, etc. it goes to the "D" drive. I found instructions on "mklink" but I constantly get syntax errors. When I first set up the tablet, it set up directory with my name, i.e. "First
    Last"

I enter "mklink /h /j C:\users\First Last\music D:\music" and I get a syntax error. I suspect that the space between the two words of my user name may be causing the problem, but I don't know. If that is the problem, how do I change my User Name
    to one word?

If I'm just not using the command properly, what am I doing wrong?

Should the directory on "D" exist when I try mkdir, or does it matter?

Please correct a syntax error for dos command mklink

    Outdated command syntax

So I'm following this article to stop my event log from filling with the error:

Troubleshoot SCECLI 1202 events - Windtype

except the article was made for server 2000. Everything on 2012 has been the same so far except in step 4 it says to use "find" and cmd is telling me the parameter format isn't correct. If anyone knows the updated syntax that would be great.

This is the command: find /i “account name” %SYSTEMROOT%\security\templates\policies\gpt*.*
