Windows 10: Please do not use BitLocker on a desktop computer!

Okay so I want to warn everyone not to activate BitLocker on your C drive if you are using a desktop computer. Because usually a desktop computer won't detect USB devices like a keyboard which is necessary if you want to get back into your operating system drive. So sometimes you cannot type your password or pin which makes you locked out of your own computer which sucks if you ask me because I just fixed my computer from this issue. If you ever do get stuck in this situation, you need to figure out what key it is to go into the bios menu I use an MSI branded computer and the key for MSI computers is delete So when you are in the bios find USB Legacy and turn it on. Then save changes and exit. Now when you are prompted to type in your password or pin you should be able to type it in. If that did not work try switching the your USB keyboard to a different USB on the BACK of your computer. The reason this works is because there is a USB slot on the back of your motherboard that is a priority set by your motherboard manufacturer which allows this USB port to be used at all times. This is what I had to do because my Bios menu did not have USB legacy in the menu because mine is an older computer.

We suggest doing the following steps again to resolve the issue. To complete the procedure, make sure that you have the following information:

• You must be able to provide administrative credentials.
• The drive must be BitLocker-protected.

To suspend BitLocker Drive Encryption on an operating system drive, please follow the steps below:

• Click Start, click Control Panel, click
  System and Security, and then click BitLocker Drive Encryption.
• Click Suspend Protection for the operating system drive.
• A message is displayed, informing you that your data will not be protected while BitLocker is suspended and asking if you want to suspend BitLocker Drive Encryption.
  
• Click Yes to continue and suspend BitLocker on the drive.

Please follow the suggestions below and check if you are able to boot to your desktop.

• Places to look for your BitLocker key:
  • On a printout you saved. Look in places you keep important papers.
    
  • Saved on a USB flash drive. Plug the USB flash drive into your locked PC and follow the instructions. If you saved the key as a text file on the flash drive, use a different computer to read the text file.
  • In your Microsoft account. To get your recovery key, go to
    BitLocker Recovery Keys.

• Or ask someone for help:
  • Ask someone with administrator privileges on the same PC to unlock it with their key.
  • If your PC is connected to a domain (usually a work or school computer), ask a system administrator for your recovery key
