Windows 10: Please fix this 100% disk problem, I've tried -everything-

I did completely reinstall. Note I selected that "Do this if you're keeping the PC" reinstall, rather than the one that said it would take several hours. Either way, it did not help!!!!

Hi, I'm not sure what version of re-installing you've done. As a quick check, are all your programs still installed? Did you start installation from normal mode (= an in-place upgrade repair install)?
That might explain why you still have the problem.

Or did you delete/format partitions and reinstall, booting from a Win 10 installation medium?

Or did you reset or refresh your PC?

Ok, so I understand you are saying you've done a complete clean install of Win 10, but still experience excessive disk usage.

So, could you
1. please post a screenshot of your task manager, organised to show highest disk usage topmost by clicking the Disk tab, while you are experiencing unexpected high disk usage.
2. run Crystal DiskMark (free) and post the result.

I should note that if I put the mouse down and let it just sit for like 10 minutes, the disk goes down to a low percent. But as soon as I click anything like skype, steam, file explorer, you name it, it rockets to 99% or 100% within a few seconds...

 

Hi, that's not a clean Win 10 install...and you are describing interacting with many programs.

Your disk performance looks ok.

I'd guess that's Windows update- certainly some sort of update. But of course you shouldn't be seeing what you describe in your 2nd sentence.

Can you try a clean boot, and post your task manager screenshot again, and advise any oddities.

Okay, that was directly after the computer booted from "clean" install. Literally as soon as I saw a desktop I opened task manager.

Things seem more responsive as of right now, even with it showing 100% disk. I don't know if it will effect performance, but we'll see....

I had just installed it, figuring that this problem isn't going to get solved easily, the fresh install was as good as it's been in ages so I was going to run with hit. I closed it before took the screenshot with the resource monitor.

I'm not going to have to reinstall again, will I?

 

The only reason those would be running after a clean install of Windows would be if you had installed them yourself again.

I'm guessing therefore you don't know how to do a clean install...
Here's how:
Windows 10 - Clean Install

You have two options:
a. proceed with whatever you have installed now, and try to diagnose the problem
b. clean install Windows (or reset it) - which means all programs and data on C: will be lost.

Following a.
Please clean boot Windows.
Here's how to do that. Follow just part 1.

Then please repeat the screenshot.

 

I installed battle.net and steam after the clean install, hence why I said "I had just installed it" in my previous post. The windows reinstall was perfectly clean. The screen shots you see are of a clean windows system that only has official steam and battle.net downloads (once again downloaded and installed -after- the clean windows install)
