Windows 10: Please Help! Blue Screen STOP Code Error After Quality Update

I have recently bought a brand new HP Pavilion. For the most part, it has ran fine. I have, however, discovered two issues/errors that have started recently.

The first is that every now and then, if I am typing while listening to audio, the audio and visual on screen will freeze with the audio "lagging" or making a weird buzzing noise. I have yet to determine a culprit for this, as all the drives were updated after activating Windows on this new PC.

The second, and more frustrating issue, is a Blue Screen STOP Code error for APC Index Mismatch. This so-far has only occurred after a Windows update. I update my PC as new updates come out, and with the last two updates I have received the blue screen upon restarting before the "update" screen even shows. Uninstalling the latest quality update seems to resolve this error for a time, but it is not a permanent fix as I said, after the first time of doing this, it has since repeated.

I can't be for certain, but I believe I have found the possible update that is causing the crash: KB4598242.

I can't keep uninstalling this update every time my laptop needs new updates, and I can't keep putting off my updates as I have been.


Is there a known issue with this update, and if so, how can I prevent it from permanently installing? Or is there a way to resolve this blue screen error, once and for all?

Any advice on the audio/text lag issue would also be appreciated.

Stop code: DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE is probably due to a compatibility issue with the driver, as most blue screen errors are. Since you encountered this error after updating Windows, most probably, you would need to update the drivers
as well.

We suggest that you go through the steps in this article on how to troubleshoot blue screen errors.
On step 1, select After an update was installed.
