Windows 10: Please let me pause your 500gb transfer at 12% to ask you a meaningless question that you...

I turned a raspberry pi + external hard drive into a file server, and am copying all my consumable content there over the network. Today, I woke up to the transfer at 12% because Windows wanted to know if I wanted to copy a random file without its properties.

I said yes to all, walked away, came back an hour later. "Are you sure you want to copy <random folder> without its properties?"

Yes to all, walk away, wait an hour.

"Are you sure you want to copy this system file?"

Anyone know how to stop this from happening in future? What are the "file properties" that won't get copied over? I could presumably just batch-remove those properties. I'm familiar with tools like Robocopy and will likely be using those in future, but I didn't consider what a chore this would be; it's now going to take all day where it could have been done in the middle of the night.

I think this may be more suitable for tech support, but I wanted it here as a sort of PSA to anyone else who plans on doing something similar. SD cards are large enough to facilitate such transfers, for instance.

Question about transfering old user profile to new.


Before I make a mess of things, I thought I had better ask. This all started because I like to use Internet Explorer. It simply would not load. I believe I tried every fix on the web. One of the suggestions was to create a new User Profile. I did that and now Internet Explorer is working. My question is about moving the AppData folder over. Apparently I will have to reinstall all of my apps and programs in this new profile. Is there anything I need to know before I transfer AppData over. I hope that after I transfer all these folders over I will still have Internet Explorer. I guess I will have to check on it as I move things over. Any suggestions will be much appreciated.
