Not entering sleep properly,- fan spin and led lights on.

Got an issue, sometimes when entering sleep mode windows and the pc (intel nuc) continue the normal procedure but seems to miss the last step.

Instead of turning off the power button led it stays on, also the fan spins. Then the only way to turn it on is to hold in the power button and hard reset.

Any ideas?

Some motherboard have a setting called anti surge. It slowly turns on case fans and parts to keep the power supply and motherboard from having spikes at power up. If it not an anti-surge in the BIOS, it might be the case fans
themselves. Most of the times fans do twitch then spin. On the fans running in sleep, check the minimum fan speed in the BIOS. A lot of times to get fans not to spin, you have to set the fans to 0 speed in the BIOS. If there, set to 200 rpm or higher a lot
of the times then BIOS won't turn them off in sleep mode.



Adding to previous suggestions, you can also try the below suggestions.



Step 1: Reset and restore Power Plans to default settings in Windows 10



Note: This option will delete all custom power plans, and restore and reset the settings for the built-in Balanced, Power Saver, and High Performance power plans to default.

1. Open a command prompt as admin.
2. Copy and paste the command below into the command prompt, and press Enter.
   
   powercfg –restoredefaultschemes
3. When finished, you can close the command prompt and check the status of the issue.

Step 2: Try creating a new Custom Power plan


You may refer the article Create
a Custom Power Plan for the steps. Check the status of the issue after creating a new Power Plan.

Also you can try to reset the BIOS to default by contacting the Motherboard manufacturer and also check, if there is any update available for the BIOS. Please update the BIOS by contacting the manufacturer.

Method 1:

I suggest you to restore the power plan to default and check.

Follow the below steps:

• Right click on Start button and click on Control Panel.
• Click on Power Options.
• Click on choose when to turn off display from the left pane.
• Click on Restore default settings for this plan.

If the issue persists then follow the below method.

Method 2:

Create the new power plan and check.

• Right click on Start button and select Power Options option from the list.
• Click on Create a power plan on the left navigation pane.
• Enter your new power plan name in the Plan name text box and click on
  Next.
• Follow the below instructions.
