    Good day


    I am trying to get the answer on settings Internet Explorer 11 in Windows 10 as my permanent default. I am aware of how to go to settings and default apps and changing it to Internet Explorer. I am also aware about how to go to the Set Default program and clicking on Internet Explorer and then clicking on Set this program as default.


    After all this is done it stays as default until the system is restarted. Once system is restarted, the default Browser is reverted back to Microsoft Edge. I have looked through many forums and noticed the same answer that I have mentioned above but can someone provide me the answer for after the restart of the system.

    Since version 7 of the world`s most popular web browser - Microsoft Internet Explorer was silently renamed to Windows Internet Explorer.Such a step from Microsoft is not a surprise since Internet Explorer is part of the Windows operation system for a long time.Obviously Microsoft corp. wants to state that Internet Explorer is already considered as a part of Windows and not as an external browser (remember the IE and WMP law issues last year!?).

    Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

    Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

    how to set Internet Explorer as default browser in Windows 10

    Hi George,

    As you want to set Internet Explorer as the default browser, I suggest you to follow the steps below:

    • Navigate to Start>Settings>System.
    • In the left pane, click on Default Apps.
    • In the right pane, under Web browser, click on Microsoft edge and select
      Internet Explorer.
    • Restart the system and check.
