Windows 10: Please tell me how to remove this Windows Sonic cancer from my computer.

I bought DTS for an actual spatial sound driver that doesn't sound like garbage.


I select it before launching my game.


Windows, in all its wisdom and brilliance, demonstrating complete competence on behalf of its wonderful coders, automatically switches me back to Windows Sonic.


I recognize this instantly because all my audio instantly sounds like its coming through a pile of wet paper bags.


When I switch back to DTS, which I ALREADY DID ONCE, it disables my audio.


So I have to close my game, launch it, compile all my shaders again, yadda yadda, and hope to god it sticks with DTS this time.


Usually it does until I reboot, but you know what? This shouldn't be necessary.


Microsoft, fix your **** please.


Better yet, remove the spatial sound abomination that you keep trying to shoehorn everyone into using.


You know what else would be great? If Windows Sonic didn't completely suck.

Windows Sonic doesn't work in applications unless realtek is set to 7.1, which disables windows sonic.

I would like to know what device you were trying to work with Windows Sonic. If you're trying to set up Windows Sonic for Headphones, then follow these steps:

1. Connect your headphones to your computer.
2. Once done, right-click on the Speaker icon on the system tray, and select
   Spatial sound. If you have a drop-down option, then select
   Windows Sonic for Headphones. If you don't, then proceed with the next step.
3. On the Speaker Properties window, click the Spatial sound.
4. Under Spatial sound format, click the drop-down arrow, and select Windows Sonic for Headphones.
5. Tick the box for Turn on 7.1 virtual surround sound.
6. Click Apply, then OK.

To remove Sonic Studio DLA we would suggest you to run Windows Installer Cleanup Utility. Once the tool is installed, launch it from the Start menu and remove the Sonic program from the list of programs.
