    PLEX vs Mezzmo -- Plex 100% improved


    Hi there

    For anybody messing around with Media server I recommend they look at PLEX these days --FREE, subtitle problems all seem fixed and great quality. Mezzmo (Paid for software) only works on Windows and a few movies I have hangs the whole system when I enable subtitles.

    PLEX also works great on LINUX servers and casting to a Google chromecast device turns even an old TV into a smart TV,

    Note you do need to have an HDMI connection though on the TV.

    Shows how Free and Open source software is still viable these days - you don't always have to pay through the nose for decent software.

    Does Windows Phone 8 work with Chromecast device?

    You'll need to check with Plex on that. They announced
    support for the Chromecast     back in December, but did not mention their
    Windows Phone 8 app    . They announced the WP8 app after their Chromecast announcement, but you would have to check with Plex people.
