    PoE Cameras

About home surveillance cameras. The CC cameras require two wires, one for data and one for power. Then there are the wi-fi cams. The (wi-fi cams can be re-routed for PoE) new PoE camera only use a Cat5e or Cat6E and the one cable transmits power and data on the same cable. The glitch is that you must have a PoE switch connected to your router connected by an upleg. Many of the video cameras are wi-fi and they suck your internet bandwidth. Not so if connected by PoE. The camera comes with a little disk that installs a tool that auto sets up your camera. After you run the cable to your desired location outside and mount the camera, to get it connected you have to scan the QR code with your smartphone if you want to have camera view on it. Most of my cameras are made by Amcrest which doesn't have the best reputation, but their view is good enough for me and I have gotten 2-3 years use out of the older ones. The forum guys at IPCamForums talked me into buying a "real" IP camera made by Dahau. The picture is better, but not a lot for my old eyes. And I don't do the NVR-recording 24-7. I just turn on the camera(s) for live view to watch the walkers and occasional traffic on my street. I have so many tree and shrub leaves blowing in the wind you have to set the recording to a high level or every time the wind blows it records. Our church is going to add new cameras in the next year and I am on the committee to help install them. We have an IT guy who is good on the CC cams. I hope to help, learn, and watch him set-up the NVR and Camera monitors. I have a small house and gee, I don't know where I would locate a NVR recorder and monitor. Most people seem to be happy with the Samsung cameras bought in the 4-8 cameras at Sam's and Costco. Regardless, with your pc and network knowledge you won't have any trouble. I have two "game cameras" that I sometime set-up in my carport when my kitty food consumption gets very high. And I have a Have-A-Heart Trap. So far I have transplanted 6 raccoons and 2 opossums to our wooded watershed area which is about ten miles away. Today is gym day. I go Mon-Wed-Fri and I have been gong 12 years. I started out on a 30 minute exercise regime, and about two years ago I found that I am now doing three hours on each workout. It doesn't make me look any younger or feel any smarter, but it makes me feel better and the away from home time helps when the house seems to get too small.*Think
    Best Wishes

    :)

TRENDnet Launches Two New Powerline 200 AV PoE+ Adapters

TRENDnet, a global leader in reliable SMB and consumer networking and surveillance solutions, has announced the launch of its Powerline 200 AV PoE+ Adapters, models TPL-331EP and TPL-331EP2K. These Powerline adapters allow you to easily add PoE+ support to your existing Powerline network. If your home is not already prewired with Ethernet cabling, adding it may be very timely and costly. With TRENDnet's new Powerline 200 AV PoE+ Adapters, a PoE connection can be made through your existing electrical power outlets. The TPL-331EP and TPL-331EP2K deliver Powerline 200 networking and PoE+ support to connected devices such as IP cameras, wireless access points, and VoIP handsets.

"Powerline is convenient because it provides a wired connection through your home's existing electrical system, eliminating the need to run Cat-5e cables that can be both time consuming and come with a heavy cost," said Evan Davis, senior manager of solutions engineering at TRENDnet. "With PoE readily available through Powerline network adapters, users can easily plug a camera or other PoE device in without worrying about PoE injectors, or wires for power and network connectivity."

Unlike other TRENDnet Powerline adapters, the Powerline 200 AV PoE+ Adapters have no power save mode, ideal for camera applications and other systems that would otherwise go into hibernation or standby mode.

TRENDnet's Powerline 200 AV PoE Adapter, model TPL-331EP, and the Powerline 200 AV PoE+ Adapter (2 Pack), model TPL-331EP2K are now available online on the TRENDnet Store, and nationwide via our distribution and retail partners.
