After motherboard replace: Boot fail; because not finding PXE over EFI IPV4

    Summary:

It seems that I have either of 2 problems: HDD fail or BIOS/Boot setup needs change.

The solution of the 1st problem is known.

For the 2nd problem I cann't get to the BIOS/Boot setup. It seems that because either the HDD fault or because the agent set the BIOS/Boot setup such that the PC boots only thru a network.

I need to know the following:

Is BIOS setup the same as Boot setup the same as Boot Manager?

    How to get to them?

at which instant after power up; when I press the OneKey Recovery Button; the PC will let me in to that recovery menu?

At the end when I get to the BIOS/Boot/Boot Manager what changes should I make to use my PC as normal?

    Following r the details:

    History:

After 4 months from purchase: my Lenovo B50-30 laptop notebook stopped suddenly. The only response is the power led at power up/down. The agent replaced the motherboard.

    The Problem:

I- When I powered it on (without DVD or Internet), just after receival from the agent:

It displays black screen followed by Lenovo logo followed by dash at the top left corner.

    Then Blue box saying:

    Harddisk Security

    SATA Port 0 ST500LT012-1DG142 Lock

The only response accepted is to hit Enter. When I do: another blue box displays:

    Please input password for ST500LT012-1DG142

If I type wrong password twice it asks me to power down & up my laptop to try again.

{Note: If I remove the HDD; it skips displaying the above 2 boxes to the following displays. The above is my HDD p/n. Also the HDD LED lights shorter time & in less cases & the Lenovo logo stays on the screen for a briefer period. So it can recognize
    my HDD.}

When I type the correct password; it displays:

    Checking media_

    then a blue box:

Default Boot Device Messing or Boot Failed.

Insert Recovery Media and Hit any key

Then Select 'Boot Manager' to choose a new Boot Device or to Boot Recovery Media

    [ok]

It accepts only Esc or Enter. Both cases display the following blue window on the whole screen area:

    Boot Manager

    Boot Option Menu

    EFI PXE Network

أ and إ to change option, ENTER to select an option

This menu has one option: "EFI PXE Network". There's no possibility to go up or down. Even Fn+F6 doesn't work.

I-1- If I hit Esc it repeats"

"Checking media_" then the previous blue box of "Device Missing".

I-2-A- If I hit Enter it displays the following text then blue box. No other input is accepted.

    Checking media_

    EFI Network 0 for IPV4 "6" (1C-39-47-28-C8-86) boot failed.

    [ok]

I-2-B- Hitting Esc or Enter brings:

    "Checking media_"

Then the "Device Missing" blue box. & so on.

II- Before power up if I put windows repair disc DVD nothing chananges.

But if I connect to the Internet before power up; after the password it displays for a minute:

    >>Start PXE over IPV4, "6" Press [ESC] to EXIT..._

II-1- Then "Device Missing" blue box then "Boot Manager" then "Start PXE" then "EFI boot failed" blue box then "PXE"
    & so on.

II-2- If I press Esc at the message "PXE"; the "EFI" blue box never appears, but every thing else rolls on.

    Notes:

I was never able to reach to Bios or Boot setup & hence never reached to windows.

& hence when I press the power button to shut down it shuts in a second.

I tried F2 & Fn+F2 F1 F10 F12 Fn+F12 esc tab & one key recovery button, but no way to get to the setup.

I'm in introductory level in proficiency in PC's.

  3. Lenovo Y50 / EFI network boot failure

According to Microsoft it is too small.

Anyway, you are also supposed to have the 500GB hard drive.

    Lenovo Y50 Specifications

    • Windows 8.1 (64-bit)
    • 2.4GHz Intel Core i7-4700HQ.
    • 15.6” FHD (1920 x 1080) LED Backlit.
    • NVidia GeForce GTX 860M (4GB of DDR5)
    • Intel HD Graphics 4600.
    • 16GB DDR3.
    • Hybrid 1 TB HDD (5400 RPM) + 8GB SSD.
    • Bluetooth 4.0.

    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

I originally asked you to first check Boot Order and you said you got the PXE error

There are normally 3 possible reasons for that error you have.

    1. BIOS Boot Order set to Boot to Network: Check BIOS settings for Boot Order.

    2. Check cable connections between Motherboard and Hard Drive.

    3. Failed Hard Drive.

I have also looked through Lenovo forums for your errors:

  4. помилка EFI PXE 0 for IPv484-A9-38-B3-30-B5 boot failed і оновленя Windows

Seeking Assistance with PXE-based Windows Installations on Surface Dev

Hey F22 Simpilot, Thanks a bunch for chiming in with your suggestions. They sound promising and I’d love to give them a good try. Here’s my experience with them so far:
    1. Adding Drivers with DISM or NTLite: DISM GUI: I gave DISM GUI a shot, but hit a snag. The interface looked different from what the article shows. A bit puzzled on where to grab the right version. If you have a direct link, that would be stellar! NTLite: I tried NTLite next, and it did churn out four files before going kaput on me. Thinking of circling back to DISM. If you've got any tricks to get NTLite working smoothly, I’m all ears!
    2. PXE Booting using Serva Community Edition: Tested the waters with Serva 4.6.0 for PXE booting, but ended up back with Tiny PXE booting. Below is the script for Tiny PXE:
Code: Your advice is nudging me closer to the solution. Would love to hear any more nuggets of wisdom you might have. Thanks again!
