  2. Internet Explorer asking for login information

After trying many things I found that the popup that I showed you in a previous email was from HP Simple Pass. Once I turned it off the popup was gone.

Unable to connect Windows 10 laptop to Windows 7 desktop due to Network Credentials

I turned on all computers and changed the homegroup password according to your instructions. I still get the popup requesting credentials. I have tried every password I use and I still get the popup. This is what is on my network, 1 hp desktop
running windows 10, 1 hp desktop running windows 7, 1 hp notebook running windows 7, 1 hp notebook running windows 10, 1 gateway notebook running windows 7, and 1 dell desktop running windows 10. All of these are wireless except the hp desktop running windows
7, which is wired direct to the modem. I could connect to and share files with all of them from the dell, but from any of them trying to share files on the dell, I got the popup. After making sure all of them had the same password, I now get the popup when
I try to access the hp desktop running windows 10 in addition of when trying to access the dell. Thinking about going back to windows 7 and windows 8.1. Popup only started after I upgraded dell to windows 10.

    Popup from HP

The most expedient method to correct such an error in my area is to visit Wal*Mart [40 miles away] and get the HP Universal power supply, had some hanging on the display rack just yesterday when I was cruising the electronics department. I didn't specifically look at the price but it's usually between $50 and $80. I got a replacement batter for an HP Pavilion g6 the other day from Computer Memory, Laptop Batteries - Kahlon.com, free 2 business day shipping took 3 but it was dealing with the USPS [always seems to take an extra day from Denver up].

It is from their pre-installed software. It is in Programs and Features if you wish to remove that pre-installed garbage. Usually it is in the "Hp Drivers and software" app or software and there should be a setting for informing you of news or such.

I would just download a copy of the Windows 10 ISO from Microsoft.com and do a clean no OEM installed junk.

Also Revo. I would rather just have them nuke the whole install and use a clean copy of Windows 10 to get rid of all of the garbage. The stupid Wild Tangent games do not uninstall properly with the OEMs that ship them with Windows, same thing that they install Python for the stupid OEM junk that does nothing, but is a hold over from the Windows 95 & 98 days.

The same thing goes if you decide to activate Office when you get the computer. The OEM's also love to stuff garbage example templates and other items into that, that you can just use the ISO to do a clean install.

If you have ever compared OEM to non-OEM for the Windows Partition. There is a huge amount of extras pre-installed, that you should only be using at most 25gb if you just have Windows and Office installed.

Before uninstalling anything, check your Bios / Uefi. Look for a power section and see if it has a setting for Turn on AC adapter warnings. Mine has but Bioses differ.

That has nothing to do with the pop-up. It is the OEM junk software that HP installed that is causing the advertisement to come up, it has nothing to do with power settings or the bios. Just HP reminding users to make sure that they visit the Support website for their computer to see if any updates (never happens unless it is a bios updae) are available. The average user would not even know what they are looking for when they may get a message like this.

We look at it as adware that needs to be nuked off. The way to do that is use the clean ISO of Windows 10 from microsoft.com

The pop looks just like the one I get if I connect an underpowered AC adapter.

I've gotten such a warning on newer Notebooks when plugging a 65W adapter into a Notebook that requires a 90W adapter. A problem with electricity when not getting what a device is designed can be heat.

Try either of these two simple solutions. Verify by opening the exe that it is indeed the popup first. Not all HP's have these folders, though. Good Luck.

    1) Go to- C:/Program Files(x86) / Hp / Hp System Event; Delete SmrtAdptr.exe

    2) Go to - C:/Program Files (x86)\Hewlett-Packard/HP Quick Launch; Delete file HP CnbToaster.dll ; Delete file HPUSRMSG.exe ; Delete file HP Smart Adapter Help

    Popup from HP

It is from HP's junk that they load on the system. If you have a bad AC power supply or bad power, you would not see it if the Battery can stay charged. The battery is part of the charging circuit on today's laptops, since they treat it in the same way that a UPS does with the battery.
