Windows 10: portable DVD player on tablet

Help please:


I am using windows 10 on a touch screen tablet without a DVD/CD player.

1) suggestions on which brand/model of a portable USB plug in DVD player? Hopefully, it would also play CD music.

2) does microsoft made/sell software that would allow playing of a DVD on such a device?

3) I'm looking for simple over price.

Portable external DVD for Surface pro 3

I need to know which compatible portable DVD player to use with my surface pro 3 on windows 10 platform.

I tried a new version Coolead slim 3D aluminium USB 3.0 blu-ray player. Each time I connect through the USB port on my tablet, I get a notification the there is not enough power in the port for the device. Any suggestions?

Hi Ajax,

All laptops has HDMI ports. Laptop's HDMI port is only an output port. It only sends out data. Having said that, connecting your portable DVD player to your laptop via HDMI cable is not possible to work. We suggest that you connect your portable DVD player
to an external monitor instead.

1. What happens when you try to play the DVD?

2. Did you receive any error message? If yes, kindly reply with the error message and error code.

I would suggest you run the built-in troubleshooter and see if it helps:

Please follow the steps below:

• Type “Troubleshooting” on the Windows Search bar and hit enter.
• On the left side of the Troubleshooting window, click on “View all”
• Click on Windows Media Player DVD. Please provide a password if asked for it and click
  ok.
• Follow the on-screen instructions.
