  1. Porting a dll from 32 to 64 bit

I ported a 32 bit dll with some functions inside called from Excel VBA to 64 bit. I started a new "Solution" with a single "Project" in freshly installed Visual Studio 2019 and I just used the old source and .def files. I have TWO problems:

-I had to remove the calls to MessageBox because it is flagged as undefined an I do have #include <windows.h>

-The dll itself wants to load VCRUNTIME140_APP.dll and UCRBASED.dll.

My suspect is I am not configuring the correct "type" of "Solution" or of "Project" and I am actually compiling a sort of Application.

I made all the suggested tricks: deinstall/install VS2019, VC Redistributable, ecc. with no success.

One strange thing is that in Project -> Properties -> Configuration Properties -> General ->Windows Store App Support I read "YES" and there is no way to set it to "NO". I fear this is the problem.

    :)

    Windows 10 Upgrade 32-bit to 64-bit

So, Windows 10 Upgrade is being rolled out worldwide, and I have 'reserved' my upgrade.

Currently my computer is running Windows 7 Pro 32-bit. I'm planning to 'upgrade' it to Windows 10 64-bit (via fresh install, of course).

After reading many references, these will be the steps I'll do:

    1. Let the "Get Windows 10" app upgrade my OS to Windows 10 32-bit
    2. Note the activation key
    3. Download the Installation Media for Windows 10, but choosing 64-bit instead
    4. Perform a clean install
    5. Reactivate using the activation key in Step #2

(Of course I'll backup my data first.)

However, I still have some questions:

    1. On Windows 7, the activation key does not differ between 32- or 64-bit versions. Is it still so with Windows 10?
    2. Will I be able to download a different architecture on Step #3?
    3. Is there anything I need to prepare beforehand?

    Thank you for your assistance.

  4. Porting a dll from 32 to 64 bit

How do I install IE 32 bit and/or switch from 64 bit to 32 bit?

    Windows 10: Internet Explorer

    • You need to have Windows 10 64-bit(x64) to use this feature
    • To check:
      • Click on Windows Key
      • Click on Settings
      • Click on System
      • On left panel click on About
      • On right panel check system type:
        • System Type: 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
          • That means you have Windows 10 64-bit
        • System Type: 32-bit operating system, x86-based processor
          • That means you have Windows 10 32-bit
    • Internet Explorer
      • 32-bit(x86):
        • C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplorer.exe
      • 64-bit(x64):
        • C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplorer.exe
    Note:
    • You cannot switch between Windows 10 32-bit to 64-bit. you need to re-install Windows 10 64 bit.
    • To download Windows 10 64-bit:
Microsoft - "Windows 10 - Download tool now"

    • Porting a dll from 32 to 64 bit 7b23dd14-23cd-4459-bfc9-5fe838d21118.png

    • If you have Windows 10 64-bit, you can run any application which supports 64-bit and as well as 32-bit
