Windows 10: Porting apps, programs and files from Microsoft admin account to new local account.

I've created a new local account in win 11. Do I have to reinstall all my apps and programs or is there a way to make them available to me in my local account? And can I make my admin account "Documents" folder available?

BTW: There was an important sentence missing in my OP. That type of error is gradually occurring more often with me now. It was probably one cause of the Windows reset.

I've started doing that since @dalchina rapped my knuckles here:

I used Macrium immediately after the reset. Since then, I've been doing Diffs. Each Diff takes only 1 minute, because of the few changes between each Diff. But the changes themselves took a lot longer than 1 minute.

IMO, your suggestion to use alternate hard drives for backups is great. My plan had been to use 2 drives with identical contents, but I'm now going to follow your method.

Before the infamous reset, I converted the default Local account to a Microsoft account (my "primary" account). Then I created a second Microsoft account for safety.

I then went back to the primary account, and changed myself to a Normal user - as the big boys recommend. I did some stuff. I then needed to be Admin again for something. But I was unable to change myself back to Admin from within the primary account.

I switched to the alternative MS account. I changed the primary account back from Normal user to Admin. That final step is what I meant when I referred to "using one account to manage another account".

Your post has a lot of other useful stuff that I'm going to implement - with Diffs in between.

You are mixing up terms in a way that might lead to mistakes.
There two types of user account within Windows:- Local user account, MSAccount-linked user account.
There are two privilege levels of user accounts:- Standard user accounts, Admin user accounts.
You can mix these two categories as suits you:-Local Standard user account
MSAccount-linked Standard user account
Local Admin user account
MSAccount-linked Admin user account
1 It is always worth having a spare Local Admin user account in case your day-to-day Admin user account ever gets corrupted. I have two spares.
So I suggest you make a spare, password-protected Local Admin user account now.

2 If you want to experiment with MSAccount-linked user accounts then make a new system image*** first so you can revert easily.
Make your spare, password-protected Local Admin user account first then either convert your existing Local account into an MSAccount-linked one or add an MSAccount-linked one.

Notes:-

Note A - MS always say that we ought to use a Standard user account for day-to-day computing and only use an Admin one when needed. If, like many of us, you are gong to ignore this advice & use an Admin all the time then set UAC to its highest setting to improve your defences against malware.

There are often claims that malware can circumvent Windows defences if an Admin account is in use but none of the malware I have looked into can circumvent defences if UAC is at maximum.

Note B - "can that account be managed by the Local account Admin" One account does not manage another. If you explain what you want in more detail then suggestions can be made but perhaps you did not mean anything in particular by this comment anyway.

Note C - "I now want to experiment with Windows accounts" / "Microsoft accounts" They are all Windows accounts so I have assumed that you meant MSAccount-linked accounts.

Note D - *** See my ditty File backup vs imaging, imaging utilities, backing up drivers [post #3] - TenForums If you make system images then you'll never have to reset your computer. I make a new system image onto an external disk every month and I always keep the last couple of them.
Actually, I have two external backup disks and I use them alternately. I keep the last couple of system images on each of them so I've got four chances of restoring an image if I have a serious problem.

Note E - Unless your interest is purely to gain skills in using them, there is only any point in using an MSAccount-linked user account if you need some of the facilities that MSAccount-linked user accounts provide such as syncing settings & poss some files between computers automatically. The tutorial in my para 2 explains more about this.

admin accounts (local or Microsoft?)

Hi I have used Win 10 since it came out and in general, I'm happy with it.
Is there a difference in system access rights given to a local account administrator as compared to an Microsoft account based logon to an admin account?
The reason I ask is that I only have one log on (as I'm sole user) to a local account with admin rights (or so I thought)
I wanted to remove/in-install a program today, and was presented with a message which said I MAY not have sufficient priveledge to remove the app. As I'm GOD on my system - how can this possibly occur?
Any thoughts?
