    In my opinion, Microsoft will remembers both product keys (win8.1 and win10) on their servers, because Microsoft has adopted a new technology for recording licences.

    Everybody who upgrades to Windows 10 for free gets the same Windows 10 product key - depending on which version they have (Home, Pro, etc.)
