Windows 10: Possible Help With KB5016691 and/or KB5016629 Installation

This is really a post to possibly help those that are/were having trouble installing KB5016629 and/or KB5016691.I had trouble installing the July cumulative update KB5015814 but was able to install it by turning off Malwarebytes. This did not work for installing KB5016629 in August. I did the in-place repair upgrade and was able to install KB5016629 but I also turned off Malwarebytes for that install.When it came time to install KB5016691, I DID NOT DO any of the following:I did not turn off Malwarebytes.I did not run DISM, SFC or Windows trouble shooter.I did not turn off .NET Frameworks 3.5T

windows xp installation and dual core am

could someone please list the steps they follow to install windows with a dual core processor and windows xp service pack to. I'm reletively new to amd dual core and i feel i'm missing a step. All help will be appreciated. thanx

 

2022-08 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 for x64-based Systems (KB5016629) will not install. Install error - 0x800f0988.

A search for an answer to this problem provides several recommendations. None, so far, have worked for me.

The first method I tried said to clean the temp files on your computer and restart it, then reset the update components.

1. Press Windows + R. Type TEMP and press enter. Delete all the files inside this folder. Repeat this step by typing %TEMP% and Prefetch. Delete everything on both folders too.

2. then Update Troubleshooter can help resolve the problem.

Select Start > Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters. Next, under Most frequent, select Windows Update > Run.

note: I was not able to delete all of my temporary files because some were in use.

This method did not work, I still got the 'Install error - 0x800f0988'.

The second method said to go to Microsoft Update Catalog

and enter the KB number (KB5016629) into the search field. A list of updates is displayed. Find the appropriate update on the list and pick the download button for that file. Once downloaded, double-click on the file to install it.

The Windows Update Standalone Installer seemed to be working but finished with the message "Some updates were not installed. The following updates were not installed: Security Update for Windows (KB5016629)"

Are there any other methods I can try to get this 'important security update' installed?

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.
