  1. Possible overheating after the latest update

    Hey all,

I have Asus Rog Strix Scar II GL703 which I have for around a year and it's my main powerhouse for daily 3D Modelling and animation. As its 17'' and despite having an RTX2070 I have never ever got any overheating problems, even when the laptop was rendering 24h straight (max load)

After the latest windows update a few days ago, my external monitor started going black randomly for a few seconds, but audio remained. Some times, the youtube video on the background started to pause, while the monitor was black. It all seemed like the laptop is going into sleep mode for a couple of seconds. An hour ago, when I was working, it just suddenly shut down. CPU & GPU temps probably went too high, but anyways in everyday usage fans are going like a freakin airbus on a takeoff, which I suppose, is ok, because my laptop is under heavy use.

Does anybody had similar issues? The fact that it started just after the update is most embarrassing, since I don' t know what to do now? Wait for a fix from MS?

    Thanks a lot in advance!

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Thanks for the suggestions and for the time to respond Possible overheating after the latest update :) Best regards.

And thanks for the tip of that program, I'll have it on my list.
