Windows 10: Possible physical RAM problems

So recently I bought a 8GB RAM for my laptop so I can make use of it faster, which it did, but a day after installing it, I've gotten a few BSODs that were all RAM/memory related.

I found the dump files and most of these occurred while I was downloading game files which were around 18GB with a download manager. It also happened out of nowhere when I opened MS Edge twice this morning. I couldn't see all the stop codes as I have a damaged LCD screen and currently using a TV to project my monitor.


I've run PowerShell for a scan, found a few corrupt files and used chkdsk to repair; 2nd scan and there have been no more, but also can't be sure if the RAM is just faulty. I want to run Memtest86 but I don't think my monitor will get projected while in boot mode. All drivers are regularly updated as well.


Any insights as to how to check otherwise?

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.

size of the system file cache will grow to meet this demand.
The system file cache consumes the physical RAM. Therefore, sufficient
amounts of physical RAM are not available for other processes.

On 64-bit versions of Windows operating systems, the size of the virtual address range is typically larger than
the physical RAM. In this situation, the working set for the system file cache can increase to consume most of the physical RAM.

We suggest that you clear caches on your Windows 10 computer to resolve memory usage issues. Few things that you
can try clearing are the Windows Store and Temp Files caches. Check out the steps below:

How to clear the Windows Store cache:

How to clear the Temp Files cache:

Windows shows 8GB RAM installed but 4GB RAM is usable

Hi There,

I've just upgraded my pc from 4GB RAM to 8GB RAM. Windows seems to have detected this upgrade but why does it show as only 4GB RAM available. The following is what I have tried so far with no luck:

• I have tried the msconfig method on ensuring maximum memory is not checked.
• physically removed the new RAM and reinstalled it

Any thoughts/suggestions on how i can resolve this matter?
