I used mediafire to download a patch to a game. I had used mediafire to originally download the game and had no issues. However this time, the download button opened a page that opened a site called "otnolatrnup". The link consisted of words such as "hide engine reference", I also saw a strange file on the directory but couldn't delete in time before it disappeared. In a panic, I ran up Malwarebytes which did not detect anything and I did not trust that. I then factory reset my laptop and ran Malwarebytes again with scan for rootkits enabled. Nothing has detected a virus and I haven't seen hin

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.

    Possible virus on laptop

Is it a Virus or a Malware or something else?

    Hello Joes,

There's a possibility that your device is infected with a malware causing why you're unable to delete the game on your laptop. In order for us to assist you better, we'd like to ask the following:

    • Aside from formatting the hard drive, what other troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?
    • Have you asked your friend where did he download the games?

To identify if your computer is infected with a virus or malware, we recommend downloading and running
Microsoft Safety Scanner. The scanner can easily detect if there's any virus found on your device. To do so, follow the steps on this
    link.

We are looking forward to your reply.
