Windows 10: Possibly unwanted & unrequired downloads slowing down my pc

With Windows 7 support now ended, I recently purchased a small Windows-10 pc purely for internet access. At home in a rural area I access the internet through my mobile phone, download speeds being fairly slow. My online activity is irregular and often when I am not at home, so paying extra for fast broadband at my residence is not good value as far as I am concerned. Sometimes I have to wait ages to be able to access my email account well over an hour yesterday as my PC is clogged with these data downloads. I checked network activity on the Resources Monitor, then later looked up the web addresses from the numerical codes.


The main culprits were :


Mobile tracker Verizon Business

Microsoft Azure

Akamai Technologies

Microsoft Azure Hong Kong


Between them, they downloaded a few hundred Mb, pushing my small CPU to its maximum.


Firstly, why am I getting all this stuff? Is this hidden in the MS 'terms & conditions' and do these companies have deals with Microsoft ?


Can I safely pause the downloads? If so, how? I never asked for this stuff.


I never had such problems with Windows 7, except with the monthly security updates, which I was happy to receive.


I have no interest in saving data in the 'cloud'.

Updates slowing computer performance

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.

 

Download speed is slow when downloading apps from the Store
