    Power consumption stays high on desktop view with 3D application running in the background....


    With Windows 7 when tabbing out of a 3D application/game to the dektop/browser the power consumption went down immediately, because the GPU stopped processing in the background.

    With Windows 10 this is no longer the case for me. The power consumption stays high as if the program was running in the foreground.

    I think it might have something to do with the taskbar tab preview that is shown when hovering over the taskbar.

    Energy costs will add up over time and it is very irresponsible from an ecological point of view. Any way to fix this?

    System specs: Windows 10 pro/Ryzen2600/AMD RX570

    High Idle power consumption

    Hi,

    A laptop in idle still drains the battery. It can be one of the lists below are the reasons why your discharging faster.

    • The power plan is on High-Performance. It consumes more energy because it maximizes the computer's usage. Toggle it as Balanced by going to Control Panel > System and Security > Power Options.
    • Too many background applications running. We can check this by going to Windows Settings > System > Battery saver > Battery usage by app. You can set adjust the settings of your battery there as well. Also, please follow the tips on the window on how you
      can manage your battery.
    • You use the second graphics card as your display to an external monitor.
    • Using sleep mode instead of hibernate mode. Hibernate mode is advisable to use when stepping away from the device for very long.

    In addition to this, you can run the automatic troubleshooter to
    find and fix problems with your computer's power settings to conserve power and extend battery life    .

    E71 firmware v400.21.013 power consumption

    My E71 had a problem with Garmin. Garmin was running background process (in the options it was disabled!) and i turned it off again now it's everything back to normal or even better power consumption!

    So try to find the background service with some processes listing program and you'll have the solution.
