Windows 10: Power error reported earlier on my laptop now it won't boot up

Hello,While working on my laptop earlier I received a MS error message regarding power. I was in the middle of something so didn't write down the exact error. My laptop continued to work fine until I got home. When I opened it the CapsLk light was on and the keyboard lights pulse when I try to power it on but nothing else happens - black screen, nothing responds. I'm hoping someone can help me out here as this laptop isn't that old. It was recently upgraded to Windows 11. I appreciate any help and suggestions. Thanks, CW

Kursah, that 6 steps are granted it always boots at the 6th step (sometimes at the 4th) and I have to remove the ethernet cable every time otherwise I'll have to do countless steps, that's a fact. I do not have Wake On Lan set.

 

Laptop won' t shutdown (or restart) and sleep [takes forever]

The situation:

• When shutting down, the laptop proceeds as normal until the screen turns off.
• After the screen turns off, it takes a while for the battery LED to go off.
• After that the power led remains on and it looks like the laptop is stuck in this state forever.
• When I try to get my laptop to sleep, something similar happens; the power led remains on, the battery led turns off and the laptop appears to be stuck in this state.

My laptop is: Asus FX553VD.

What I've tried:

• I have tried to troubleshoot power management and power options.
• Tried clean boot.
• Updated the BIOS.
• Reinstalled windows and tried shutdown and sleep (without installing the drivers and stuff), however that didn't work either.

Additional Info:

• I have multiple operating systems installed in my laptop, however this problem persists on windows only (the OSes are installed on different drives).
• The disk usage is abnormally high.
• There are spikes in CPU usage that kick up the fan really fast while idle.

Please suggest other ideas as to what I should do?

Interesting with the NIC connection...not sure what to make of that. What are your system specs? Make/Model of all your components? Check my system spec's for an example.

Honestly I would do process of elimination to another step...and that step would be the PSU. If nothing changes after that..I would try to force flash the CMOS if possible..to ensure no corruptions lie within that.

I would also try as I suggested above and try to boot with minimal hardware... you need an STDIN...Keyboard, STDOUT...VGA, CPU, stick of RAM and power to be able to perform POST on the mainboard. So starting with that would be a great place to go next.

If nothing changes..depending on what you're running a different CPU might be the next step... by the time you're done...you might have built a different PC. But you'll also have more experience in PC diagnostics which is a huge plus for odd issues like these...wish it was in front of me so I could examine and diagnose.
