power flipped off, Win10 won't boot, repairs failed

I am currently back on my old Gateway PC running Windows 7. Early this morning a brief power flip happened due to weather. Off then back on. Win10 ended up not booting at all. Sometimes it would stay on the spinning load icon, other times it would BSOD with a random error. Tried the boot menu repair options, scanning the drive, restore point, startup repair(chkdsk says it's fine), nothing... tried a restoration reinstall(keep old files), which would inevitably fail at some point, reaching an eventual restart then the same problems again. Won't boot. Main boot drive is a Suneast SE800 512GB. Working on setting up my old PC to full to use it now I did plug it in to see if I could gain any useful files(browser profiles, program setting folders, etc) to keep things intact. I was able to read it fine and gather those folders, though MSE didn't seem to care for the drive and was running 50% CPU. Beyond that I also swapped over the 2TB WD HDD which had MOST of my files on it, that drive is fine. I should point out that, since a bad Windows Update install on the 15th, which I had to uninstall due to severe system instability, the whole PC seemed to be running a bit slow/problematic. So what are my options here? Assuming the SSD is fine, which it otherwise appears to be... do I try for a fresh install that doesn't keep personal files? But if even the repair sector is shot that won't work. I could just install Win7 which I have a disc for- unfortunately Microcenter preinstalled Win10, so even if I were to download Microsoft's repair/install ISO file, I don't have a license key(they didn't supply it- no sticker, no extra paperwork). I should be bale to get ethernet & audio drivers that are compatible(if Win7 doesn't just grab those automatically), and can use my NVidia card. I'd prefer to use the new hardware as it has more RAM, better CPU, etc. That's mainly why I bought a new PC. I can work with this in the meantime.

    :)

computer won't boot but has power

Kursah, that 6 steps are granted it always boots at the 6th step (sometimes at the 4th) and I have to remove the ethernet cable every time otherwise I'll have to do countless steps, that's a fact. I do not have Wake On Lan set.

  3. Windows 10 won´t boot into automatic repair neither safe mode or any of the other options

    Hi,

Welcome and thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

We regret the inconvenience caused to you.

I suggest you to create an installation media for Windows 10 and perform Automatic Repair.

    Download Windows 10

    Follow the below steps:

    • After you boot your computer using
Windows 10 CD/ DVD or System Repair Disc, a black screen appears with gray text "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD". Press any key.

    • Select the correct time and Keyboard type.

    • Click on Repair your computer
      in the lower left corner.

    • Select Troubleshoot
      from Choose an option screen.

    • Click on Advanced options
      in Troubleshoot screen.

    • Click on Automatic Repair
      from Advanced Options screen.

    • Next, choose the operating system by clicking on its button.

    • Windows 10 will look for problems on hard drive(s) and verify that all required files are intact.

    Hope it helps.

Let us know the status, we are glad to assist you further.

power flipped off, Win10 won't boot, repairs failed

computer won't boot but has power

I would still say try a different PSU... here is a solid budget power supply:

    http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00H33SDR4/?tag=tec06d-20

Interesting with the NIC connection...not sure what to make of that. What are your system specs? Make/Model of all your components? Check my system spec's for an example.

Honestly I would do process of elimination to another step...and that step would be the PSU. If nothing changes after that..I would try to force flash the CMOS if possible..to ensure no corruptions lie within that.

I would also try as I suggested above and try to boot with minimal hardware... you need an STDIN...Keyboard, STDOUT...VGA, CPU, stick of RAM and power to be able to perform POST on the mainboard. So starting with that would be a great place to go next.

If nothing changes..depending on what you're running a different CPU might be the next step... by the time you're done...you might have built a different PC. But you'll also have more experience in PC diagnostics which is a huge plus for odd issues like these...wish it was in front of me so I could examine and diagnose.
