17.4 million hits when you google "windows won't wake up from sleep" and I'm one of them.

A problem so old it makes you wonder whether disdain for the customer can reach higher levels.

But it can get worse. Power management doesn't even listen to the users' instructions.

I have set my pc to NEVER to to sleep, only to shutdown the screen after a while.

Then I come back the following day and find the pc in hibernation.

That is: fan is turning, powerbutton is blinking.

Hard shutdown and restart is the only way this thing can be revived.

I consider myself fortunate to have several apple devices for doing my work and important stuff. I use this windows thing only for some casual gaming world of warships... simple stuff But even then I sometimes give up when I again can't start up this thing.

Now, community. Tell me this. 17.4 million times this has been asked, and sofar I have not come across the definitive honest to god formal fix. Is there any to be had?

    :)

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

We understand your concern with the battery report. Active State Power Management or ASPM is a power management protocol used to manage PCI Express-based serial link devices as links become less active over time. It is normally used on laptops and
other mobile Internet devices to extend battery life.

In order to get clarity and to assist you accordingly, please reply with the answers to the questions below.

    • What is the make and model of the PC?
    • Are there any devices connected to the computer?

Please respond to the private message with the required information for further investigation. However, we would suggest you to perform these steps.

Change the advanced power plan settings.

    1. Right click at Windows Start menu icon and select Control Panel.
    2. Set the View by to: Small icons.
    3. Click on Power Option, then click on Change plan setting.
    4. Select Changeadvanced power settings.
    5. Scroll down and expand PCI Express and
      Link State Power Management
    6. Change the option for both On battery
and Plugged in to Maximum power savings.
    7. Then click Ok.

    We await your response.

Wattman (and how to find and use it, like an overview, including profiles)
Unigine Valley or Heaven (use this for quick testing while changing settings in Wattman and checking for stability / artifacts) ...just suggesting this
How to monitor cores / mem speeds and temps during testing (I've seen screen overlays, and others using GPUz)
