Windows 10: Power Options CS not available, CMD prompt options not working

Hi,

I recently updated my windows and it reset all of my settings Core count, power settings, etc. and when I tried to fix all of that I got to power in the regestry editor to find that the CSenabled was gone. I searched around and couldn't find it. Then I tried to use CMD prompt and add in all of the power plans. I added in every single one, but the only one that showed up when I reset was the balanced one, so I have two balanced power plan options and nothing else, and all of the settings in power control are also not there. any ideas on how to fix this?

Power Options

Hi,

You may follow these steps to reset all default power plans to default settings:

Open a command prompt.

In the command prompt, type “powercfg –restoredefaultschemes” and press Enter.

Close the command prompt.

Remember to restart the computer to check if that helps.

No power options available after Windows update

Method 1.

Run SFC /Scannow to Fix Power Options Missing Issue on Windows 10 Creators Update

The power option missing or not working error in Windows 10 Creators
Update could also be caused by corrupt or missing system files. To
rule out that possibility, you could run the SFC command (System File
Checker) to repair the problematic system files and retrieve the power
options. Below is how:

Press Win + X to select Command Prompt (Admin).

Type sfc /scannow and then hit Enter. (Make sure to put a space between “sfc” and the slash.)

Type powercfg –restoredefaultschemes after the sfc /scannow command completes and then hit Enter.

Type DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and hit Enter.

Reboot your computer after the process finishes and then try the Sleep, Shut down, or restart option in the power menu to check whether
the power options are available now.

Method 2.

Tweak Group Policy Editor to Resolve Windows 10 No Power Options Available after Creators Update

If running the SFC commands fails to fix the futile power options in
Windows 10, try the Group Policy Editor tweak as below tutorials.
Before the registry tweak, you’d better backup your registry first in
case of any further system issues like blue screen, black screen with
cursor, Windows Hello not working etc.

Go to Search, type gpedit.msc to open Group Policy Editor.

Navigate to the following path:

User Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Start Menu and Taskbar

Double-click on "Remove and Prevent Access to the Shut Down command".

Select “Not Configured” or “Disabled” and then click Apply.

Close the Group Policy Editor and then try the power options menu to see if the sleep/hibernate/restart option functions now.

Pro Tip：

If you are a Windows 10 Home user, the Group Policy Editor is not
available. But you can run regedit to open the Registry Editor and
then follow the below path to find the missing power options back:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

Ensure that a value named NoClose exists with a value of 0.

Reboot your computer and check whether the Power Options missing bug
gets fixed.

Method 3.

Add User Rights in the Local Security Settings to Get the Missing Power Options Back

Add User Rights in the Local Security Policy is also said helpfully to
repair the power options malfunction:

Press Win + R keys and type: secpol.msc and then hit Enter to open the Local Security Policy.

Go to: Security Settings –> Local Policies –> User Rights Assignment –> Shut down the system.

Choose Properties and then Add Users or Group to add your user id or group.

Once the new user or group has been added, click OK to save changes.

Sign out and Restart your computer.

Sign in and then you should find the Restart & Shutdown options are available.

Windows 10 Power Options Not working

Method 1: Use the hardware troubleshooter to fix the issue

The Hardware Troubleshooter is an automated tool which will check the hardware connected to the computer for any known issues with it and provides the details and on how to fix them. Follow these steps and run the troubleshooter.
Follow these steps:

Press Windows key to get the Start menu.

Type Troubleshooting in the search box right up corner and hit enter.

Click on Troubleshooting tab.

Click on view all option on the upper left corner.

Select the power options from the list.

Click Next to run the power Troubleshooter.

Method 2: Also I suggest you to create a new power plan and check if it helps.

Go to control panel and then click on power options.

Then click on create new power plan.

Change the power plan accordingly and check.
