Windows 10: Power Switch, hibernate problem

Microsoft Support 111221 Power Switch, hibernate problem Dear Microsoft Support, I upgraded from Win 7 to Win 10 for my Netbook, and have some unusual problems with my Power Switch, and hibernate/sleep. I tried going thru shut down and start up several times, and documenting what happens. a. I select 'shut down' and the system shuts down normally. b. I flick the power switch, and the internet light goes on, but no other indication. After 10 minutes, still no startup. c. I flick the power switch, holding it for a few secondes. Windows 10 Hibernate problems

I suggest you to follow the methods provided below and check if it helps.

I suggest you to run the Power troubleshooter by following the steps below and check if for any power components change status.

• Press Windows logo key on the keyboard, type troubleshooting and select the top most search result.
• Click on View All from the left side panel of the window.
• Select Power from the options, click on Advanced option and check Apply repairs automatically option.
• Follow the on screen instructions and wait for the troubleshooting to complete.
• Check for the missing/corrupted power component status of the troubleshooter, close the window and check if the issue is resolved.

Battery drain in hibernation

This is a volunteers forum. We cannot fix anything for you!

I would start by taking these steps:

1. Put Windows into hibernation.
2. Get it out of hibernation.
3. Check the time stamp of the hidden file C:\Hiberfil.sys. Does it reflect the time when you took Step 1 above? If it does not then the machine was not in hibernation.
4. Before going to bed, make a note of the battery charge.
5. Switch the machine off and unplug the power cord.
6. Next morning, before plugging in the power cord but after turning it on, make another note of the battery charge. If there is a noticeable discharge then you have a leaky battery or a problem with the motherboard. Windows can't be the culprit because it
   was off all night.

We suggest to manually setup hibernation on your computer. You may follow the steps below:

• Right-click on your desktop and select Personalize.
• Click Lock screen>Screen saver settings>Change power settings>Choose what the power buttons do.
  
  
• Change the settings When I press the power button, click
  hibernate.
• Click Save changes.
